Sir James van der Merwe
Our Story
Sir James van der Merwe is now serving good times.
Sir James van der Merwe took it upon himself to go on a gentleman’s quest to find the perfect place to enjoy a drink. He travelled near and far, but in the end he knew that if he were to find the best, he would need to open his own bar.
The space he created is eclectic and inviting, a worldly cocktail of treasured trinkets from his travels with a shot of local flair. Sir James is not one to stay still, he is rather vibrant and energetic whether he is hosting a club night party or inviting his friends for a game of billiards.

In Your Pocket City Guide
"This stunning warehouse space is stuffed with the owner’s covetable collection of antiques and endowed with a unique Sandton view. Then there’s the retro party music, fun yet sensibly restrained guests and the fact tat everyone is just so darn nice – it’s a given that you’ll forget tomorrow is only Thursday"
